The
HostComputer is a PC physically sitting under the small desk in the corner of the room under the
PlasmaScreen.
The wireless keyboard and mouse on the conference table are connected to the
HostComputer, although the range can be a bit short. Sit near the end of the conference table to get best reception.
Password
The password for logging in to the
HostComputer can be found on the bottom of the keyboard.
Video Setup
The
HostComputer can be configured to drive either the
PlasmaScreen, the
VideoProjector, or both. The display mode can either be mirrored between both displays or the desktop can be split between them in dual-screen mode. To change the video configuration, open the configuration application for the
HostComputer video card found in the Applications directory as CCC. This video card has two separate DVI outputs which can be configured independently. To configure the second screen (either as a mirror or to expand the desktop) right-click on the second screen box and select the desired option. For convenience, the default configuration should be to mirror the output on both screens together, such that either screen can be used to view the
HostComputer output.
The
HostComputer is routed to the
PlasmaScreen on channel DVI 1, while it is routed to the
VideoProjector on channel RGB 1. More information can be found on the
PlasmaScreen and
VideoProjector entries. Remember that the
VideoProjector signal also comes through the
SwitchBox? . Make sure the switch is set to Channel A.
Audio Setup
If you want to hear sound directly from the PC, you can either turn up the volume on the
PlasmaScreen, or else turn on the axillary speakers. There is no direct connection from the
HostComputer sound to the Polycom
VideoUnit or
SpeakerPhone.
Skype
To use Skype on the
HostComputer requires an extra USB microphone. This can be connected to the USB port on the front of the
HostComputer.
EVO
See the entry on
EvoVideo to set up an EVO-based video conference using the
VideoUnit through the
HostComputer.
